Still wondering what options are available to keep your children entertained throughout the school summer holiday? The choice of activities is varied. Here are Kids in Madrid’s top summer camps:
If you are interested in other summer camps in Madrid or activities to do with your kids, check out our blog.
International Institute
Celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, the International Institute is the go-to place to learn about everything related to American culture and lifestyle. Each summer they offer week-long day camps – Summer in the City & Summer in the City – Teens – that are a cut above the rest. Aimed at Spanish families with children in bilingual education, this urban camp helps these kids put their language learning into context.
KIM is delighted to recommend these camps, which are integral to the North American English and Culture Program offered by the International Institute. The program has a reputation for excellence, with many children returning year after year. The themes for 2018 are “Solved! CSI Madrid” (where they spend a week as young detectives); “Survivor” (where they spend a week learning survival skills); “Techtacular” (where they spend a week learning about new technologies); “Heroes and Heroines” (where they spend a week learning about real heroes & heroines) and “In the Limelight” (where they spend a week preparing a show, with roles behind the scenes as well as on stage).

“I thought I’d let you know that Jorge has really enjoyed the experience over the past two weeks. Each day he’s come back home telling me about a different activity. As a mum, I’ve found the cultural outings interesting and varied. Congratulations on your hard work”, Conchita B.

LAE Kids – Spanish classes for kids and families
LAE Kids is hosting its urban summer camp in the heart of Madrid this summer, and has an action-packed couple of months planned for its students!
Part of the Instituto Cervantes-accredited language school, LAE Madrid, LAE Kids offers a unique experience for families (from 4-17) looking to improve their Spanish and making the most of their summer break. With a maximum of 8 children per group, LAE Kids uses complete immersion methodology in which children are exposed to Spanish through activities and games that are specific to their ages and interests, within a well-structured pedagogical framework.
KIM is delighted to recommend the camp located in barrio Salamanca. The camp is divided by age: 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 and there is a separate group for 13-17 year olds. From 4-12, the camp helps your child work on key developmental skills, Spanish fluidity and teaches them more about the Spanish culture. They spend their days painting, cooking, dancing and getting their hands dirty, while at the same time learning Spanish through doing.
The teen camp focuses on speaking and communicating in Spanish through activities, games and projects, like robotics, coding and cultural visits to places around Madrid.
There are just a few places left on the morning and afternoon sessions throughout June, July and August so get in touch as soon as possible to reserve your child’s place.

Act Out!
If your child is aged 4-12 years old, has a shy or outgoing personality and knows some (or a lot of!!) English, be assured that Act Out is the summer camp for him/her. Over 7 years the team at Act Out have developed a series of interesting, fun and inclusive theatre workshops that engage those lucky kids who are signed up to the program. Through theatre games and rehearsal, they focus on your child’s self esteem, confidence and communication skills. All the monitors at Act Out are professional actors, singers and dancers, specialized in theatre for children and work hard so that the kids in the program have a great time. All the shows and the music that the children rehearse are written by the Act Out team and are designed specifically to improve children’s confidence and team work. This summer your kids are invited to COME IN AND ACT OUT!
KIM is delighted to recommend the camps run by ACT OUT at two different venues: Espacio Ronda (Metro Puerta de Toledo), where they’re offering a 20% discount on the last two weeks of July, and at the Casa del Lector in the Matadero (Metro Legazpi). Their energy, enthusiasm and skills are contagious. Kids keep coming back for more. Over five weeks their team of experts will show camp goers how to improvise, how to speak fluidly in English, how to work in a team, and how music and dance are integral to organic language learning. At the end of each week the children put on a show at 15h for parents to watch in the theatre hall.

“Our daughter adores the Act Out Team. She not only goes to the weekly workshops during the year, but it is also her favourite summer camp. The kindness and attention they show to the children is wonderful. Act Out is an extraordinary way to combine English learning with games; self esteem building and teamwork. Congratulations!” Juan Gómez.
Don’t miss out! Those in the know booked a place for their children weeks ago!

Melton Language Services
Melton Language Services offers one of the most dynamic urban summer camps available in Madrid for children aged 4 – 18. Hosted by CEU San Pablo school in the city centre, this highly successful program runs in English and French. Groups are organized by age and spoken language ability, with reduced numbers and a clear aim to help the camp goers improve their language skills over a fortnight of fun.
KIM is delighted to recommend both camps run by Melton Language Services. The site they use is superb, having full run of CEU San Pablo school. Although inevitably some of the camp goers are students from that school, the majority come from elsewhere and effort is made to ensure that the groups are inclusive. The absolutely unique selling point of these camps is the focus on oral communication. These camps will have your children speaking nineteen to the dozen in no time at all!
