Easter Excursions in Spain with Children

Are you looking for what to do at this Easter time? Take a look at the Easter Excursions in Spain we share in this blog post

Easter is just around the corner. If you still don’t have any plans here below we outline a few ideas that you can enjoy Easter Excursions in Spain.

Segovia

Disconnect close to home

If you have young children there’s nothing worse than traveling far, but don’t dismiss the possibility of enjoying a few days away in beautiful surroundings. Take a trip to Segovia and visit the Roman Aqueduct, the Cathedral, and the Palace. No doubt your children will recognize the Palace from the Disney castles. We recommend the Hotel Palacio San Fecundo, 100 meters from the Plaza Mayor. This house/castle is from dates back to the XVI century and has been converted into a 4-star hotel. For the youngest members of the family, they have activities such as quad bikes and paintball and guided visits which are suitable for the whole family. All this with the guarantee that you get from the Rusticae chain of hotels and their Goodlife Kids programme.

From Segovia, there is an easy excursion that you can do (alternatively you can do this from Madrid as a day excursion). The excursion is to the Parque Natural de las Hoces del rio Duratón. It’s a fascinating spot where children can see vultures and where they can practice outdoor sports including s, and where can be practiced canoeing. Naturaltur organizes tours along the river for children. More information is available on their website: www.naturaltur.com

Sierra de Aracena (Huelva)

For train enthusiasts

In Sierra de Aracena you will find the small village of Almoaster la Real, which enjoys tranquility and beautiful countryside, as well as a considerable historical legacy as it’s home to one of the few mosques remaining in rural Spain. The train service Zafra-Huelva gives visitors the opportunity to visit the surrounding areas. The “Casas de la Antigua Estación” is formed by three houses which can board up to 28 people, ideal for groups with children. The houses can be rented independently from each other. The owners organize cooking workshops and run English courses.

Villamanrique de la Duquesa (Sevilla)

Parque Nacional de Doñana

The Coto de Doñana is one of the most important reserves in Europe and it’s ideal for bird watching as you can see as many as 300 different species across the year. The park is also home to the Iberian Linx and wild horses. For accommodation we recommend the rural complex Ardea Purpurea. Built in the style of typical huts and shacks of the area it’s ideal for families as they have kitchens and several bedrooms. The complex has a children’s area and a duck pond which will delight children of all ages.
