The best curry in Madrid!

Restaurants - good ones and ones to miss

Well, I have to confess I love curry. In fact I would go so far as to say that I am a curryholic. One of my biggest regrets when I left London 6 years ago was how much I was going to miss getting a regular take away from my favorite Indian restaurant in Westbourne Park now that I was living in Madrid. No sooner than I landed in Madrid I looked up the list of international restaurants and to my delight I found a pretty comprehensive list of Indian restaurants. It wasn’t long before I booked a table at one of the very well known Indian establishments located just off Plaza de Colon called Anapurna. Anapurna is medium/high priced and the food is okay but a little too nouvelle cuisine for me.
Following a few definite Indian restaurant disasters, I trotted along to an Indian restaurant that was being hailed as one of the best if not THE best in Madrid. Mumbai Massala.I was not only seriously disappointed by the food, very small portions, stone cold and simply very mediocre, but also shocked at the bill which was 95 euros for two people! We hadn’t even had any alcohol or pudding with our meal!
i was starting to lose all hope that i would ever be able to get a really decent curry in Madrid. Until I came across Tandoori Station. Tandoori Station has only been around for a couple of years and it is owned by a very well travelled Indian and his lovely partner who runs the bar. The restaurant is located on Jose Ortega y Gasset, at the Francisco Silvela end and in the summer it has tables out on the street. The decor is slightly bistro cafe style, modern, comfortable and intimate. The service is very pleasant but best of all the food is GREAT! I finally found a really decent Indian restaurant in Madrid and they have a take away service too!
