A full size American style theme park, located about 30 minutes from Madrid. You can reach it by car, train or bus. A little on the expensive side, particularly if you are accompanying kids but not planning on taking any rides, however it is a full day out so it's all pretty relative. Queues are generally fairly short except for in the obvious high points of the year.

teleferico
Teleferico

Casa de Campo. Paseo Pintor Rosales, Parque del Oeste.
www.teleferico.com
Strung high above several of Madrid's Casa de Campo park, this cable car was originally built in 1969 as part of a public fairgrounds (Parque de Atracciones) modeled vaguely along the lines of Disneyland. Today, the teleférico retains an allure of its own as a high-altitude method of admiring the cityscape of Madrid. The cable car departs from Paseo Pintor Rosales at the eastern edge of Parque del Oeste (at the corner of Calle Marqués de Urquijo) and carries you high above two parks, railway tracks, and over the Manzanares River to a spot near a picnic ground and restaurant in Casa de Campo. There are good views of the Royal Palace along the way. The ride takes 11 minutes. At the Pintor Rosales entrance to the teleférico is the famed Bruin Ice Cream Parlour, which has been around for decades and offers a wide choice of helados (ice creams) and granizados (iced drinks).
Opinion: somewhat rickety but nevertheless a must for its breathtaking views and simply nailbitting thrill! From the teleferico you can easily access the Madrid zoo by foot or the Madrid Theme Park.

This is a theme park located within the city itself and fully accessible by tube/metro or bus, and car of course. It's not as big as say the Warner Theme Park but it's got some really hair-raising rides and in my books it's a great theme park and more reasonably priced than others. For those of you who don't want to "ride" you pay a minimal entry fee.

This the player does through physical tasks and by solving puzzles, earning points towards the success of the mission. Time for tasks is limited. Carretera de Cadalso de los Vidrios, Navalcarnero, Aldea del Fresno, Madrid, 28600
In Safari Madrid you can use your own car to see ostriches, giraffes,, camels, zebras, bears, rhinoceroses, monkeys and more. There is a reptile house and a bird park, too, where you can see spectacular birds of prey like golden eagles, falcons, and Griffon vultures. Unfortunately, the only way to get there is by car, around 40 minutes from Madrid, but well worth the effort as it's a great day out and very reasonably priced.
