This museum conducts activities whose aim is to promote
a greater awareness of the diversity of the natural
world. It has over 6 million specimens in its
collections, and this makes it one of the main
reference centres for not only Spanish fauna, but also
that of other Mediterranean areas. It also has
interesting permanent exhibits, such as the one devoted
to the history of the earth and life, in which
spectacular specimens can be viewed, such as the
replica of a Diplodocus; the Stone Garden, an open-air
ensemble of rocks and petrified tree trunks;
Mediterranean, nature and civilisation, in which the
ecosystems and fauna of this area are shown; and the
Royal Museum, which offers a journey back through time
via collections with centuries of history.
General admission: €5. Reduced: €3.00 (unemployed

Bodies, The Exhibition uses dissected human specimens
to provide you with a visual textbook to your own body.
The specimens in this Exhibition have been treated with
the dignity and respect they so richly deserve. Our
bodies are indeed intricately more complex and wondrous
than all the computers and gadgetry that surround us
today. Yet many of us do not know what is beneath our
skin, how our bodies function, what they need to
survive, what destroys them, what revives them.
comment:
Although it sounds rather grim it is in fact
fascinating and the dissected bodies barely seem real.
When I went to see this exhibition there were a number
of children present none of whom seemed upset by what
they saw as it's all displayed in such a clinical
fashion that you dissaciate with the people that these
bodies once belonged to.
You can
obtain a discount if you buy your tickets through the
Bodies website. Children under 12 years of age get in
free until 31st August.
